Vuon Shik-kai, President of the Waiwupu, has instructed his subordinates to compile all the treaties made between China and foreign states and to print them in book form for distribution amongst the people. News says:-- Viceroy Tuan Fang telegraphs to the Waiwu- pp that he has instructed the new Customs Taolal, Taai Lai-huang that, as the foreign Municipal Council North of the Yangkingpang Creek has agreed to stamp out the opium dens within its jurisdiction in four years beginning from 1908, he, or his successor, must always axert himself to see that opium divans are effectually suppressed in tewas adjacent to Shanghai. In the Marine Magistrate's Court last Wednesday morning, before the Hon. Commander Basil Tay. lor, N., P. C. Edwards charged Ho Tusag, mas tar of the team launch Sun Yik, with unlawful- ty carrying 73 passengers, in excess of the num ber allowed him by bis licence outside the Harbour limits, on Torsday. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge, P. C. Edwardy stated that, while he was going westward, bo saw a steamer which he suspected to Chinese deportees from Singapore.
