For all China ponies Tato be laid before the regular general meeting of the Association on the 17th instant. The resolution, recommends that the mills should suspend night work for three months between May rat and October 30th next, so far as the circumstances of each milt would allow, in order is reduce the production of coarse yard n 20 counts and below, this acting in com pliance with the suggestion of the Shinghaf Cotton Yaro Gedd. Mills will be allowed to discontinue the operation of a certain number of spindles instead of the suspension of night work, in the intter cases it will be neceliary to suspend the operation of spindles to the extent of not less than 271 per cent, of the number for six months in order to bring such m-lls into line with those abolishing night shifts for the time. It is farther recommended that those mills engaged in weaving should suspend the operation of a reasonable number of spindles for spinning yarn for fabrics for home
use.
The Kanegafuchi Spioning Company has decided to contrict a new mill at Sumoto,
Awaji, and the work is to ba shortly éqm. menced. For the encouragement of the anter prise the Sumoto people have agreed to make x grant to the company of about 20,000 taubo of land reclaimed from the Sumotogawa,..and the purchase of an additional area of about 4 cho of land adjoining has been made on easy terms. It may be remarked that the Kanéga- fuchi have already one mill on the island near

The new mill is to be devoted to the production of fiue yarn and shirtings: .11 will be fitted with 20,000 spir dies and soa looms, and is expected to be completed io eight months.

A FURTHER DECLINE,, " Despite all the efforts made by the colloa spinners- limitation of output, the issue of prize, tickets, and a conference to maintain prices the yard market continues to decline. The boycott of Japanese goods in Chion, the depression in the cotton-weaving industry in Japan, and the generally unfavourable financial condition are regarded as the main causes of this serious state of things. On Tuesday, 7 b iast, the lowest priát on record was reached in the quotation for Juno delivery on the Osaka Yarn Exchange. The closing quotations on Tuesday are compared with the closing rates. on the preceding day as follows-

The Italian newspapers hint at a possible occupation of the Island of Algean, and ex- pect that a naval demonstration will be mide against Smyrna.
