On the proposal of Captain Bassett, seconded by Mr., Young, Messrs. W., Anderson and JE. Bingham were appointed auditors. |~ MF, Macleod then rose, and alluding, to the retirement of their late 'London Secretary: Mr. W. G Howell, proposed that the Directors be. empowered to grant him a retiring, allowance of a sum not to exceed 6300, per xazum. "In putting this resolution before them he might mention that Mr. Howell had served the Com. ⠀ pany well and faithfully for over twenty-dva year? He had band very seriously ill, and was naw in his old age quite incapacitated from do ng suy further work. In granting Mr. Howell this allowance he might say that it was not an extra charge on the company of £300, because bi accessor in the office of Secretery had agreed to acpept's lesser sum for remuneration by 6105 than they paid to Mr Howell. There fore the extra charge to the company would be only £10 per annum. They brought this resolution forward at the request of the Londen committee, in which the directors on this alde, who had known Mr, Howell for so many year, thoroughly agreed, and he thought that is company of such income as they had, the charge would not be felt. It would make solutely no differences to the shareholder
