EXPLORER'S EXPERIENCE FOR is MONTHS.

Mr.A. H. Harrison, an English explorer, who has just returned home after two and a half. years' continuous wosk in the Arctic Ocean north of the American Continent, in an inter view with Reuter's representative gave some interesting details of a prolonged sojourn among Eskimo,

The journey, was undertaken for the purpose of scientific research, and particularly with the object of ascertaining whether land existed to the north of the American Continent."

Dating his investigations, Mr. Harrison 'was frozen in at the Arctic Red River, about 200 miles fini the Arctic Ocean, and was

pelled to abandon his supplies and boat. For Rome, 18 months he lived entirely with Eskimo, upon whom he was dependent for the meads of livelihood, and he has brought back some valuable data regarding these "interesing pea- ple. During the whole period of his explora tion Mr. Harrison was alone, except for natives.

"At the end of july, 1905," sald Mr. Harri son, "I commenced my journey and proceeded down the Athabasca River, and crossed the _lake_of_that_name into the Slave River-and- Great Slave Lake until, on reaching the Arctic Red River some three months later, I was fro zeo in. During these three months I took on batches of boatmen in various places, accord- ing to special requirements of the locality: In places navigation was difficult and hazardous, At one portion of the river we had to' shoot" do less than 9 miles of rapids, and for about 160 miles we drifted ›
