‘ÓNSIGNEES of Cargo are hereby
A correspondent of the Japan Garelle seuds that jourpuk twoʻtjos labelled "Pure Orange Marinalade," both purporting to have been furnished by the well-knowa 'English firm of; Crosse & Blackwell. The two tins identical:
310 in fize, and the labels they both bear are, excepti in minute technical differences of type, also absolutely identical. The obvious difference begins in the fact that the genuine tin is paint- ed blue, while the bogus is covered with anformed that all Goods are being landed blue paper of s'shado 'closely resembling that of the paint distinguishing the genuine The difference contioues in the fact that, owing, to limitations in paper-colouring, the "blue" is not carried up to the top edge nor down to the lowar edge of thej bogustins, which thus display a tell-tale yellow bronze edgipy. The label itself is also forged upon an orange instead of the legitimate; lemon-coloured paper, though experts will note that the tins bear the proper stamps on their bottoms, indicating that they are old genuine tips revamped."
These bogus goods are sold openly in Japan! and doubtless impose upon the innocent buyers! everywhere. He is, of course, undeceived upon; mmpling the contents, Nevertheless, while the fraud is indirectly a compliment to the original manufacturers it may seem good to 1467 purchasers of their products to closely
scrutinise alleged packets of same an wale iuj Japan.
