An loquiry Into the circumstances regarding the collision between the steam launch Tai | Ching and the Pelican, which took place on the afternoon of the gth instant, was conducted by Commander Basıl Taylor, R.NI, Harbour Master, in the Marion Court, to-day. The collision occurred at 3.15 o'clock, and the force of the impact very nearly capsized the Pelican, three of her crew boing thrown into the water.
Mr. R. Unswonb, of the Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company, said he was on board the Pelican that afternoon. He had left the steamer Listan, which was anchored off the Central Market, on her star board side, and was returning to Kowloon As the Pelican's bow was clear of the Lintan's the Tai Ching teamed up from the northward, shaving the bow of the Lutan, and struck the Pelican square amidships on har port side. Thies blasts were blown by the Tai Ching when the collision appeared imminent. .....
