Mr. Taft, speaking at Columbus, Ohio, referred to the quickening of the public conscience in regard to business abusee, and foreshadowed amendments "to The Railway Rate and Interstate Commerce Bills, alio, to the Anti-Trust Law, with"a- view to strengthening the hands. of the Government.

President Roosevelt at Princetown, Mass. achusetts, advocated a national incorpora tion of the laws for corporations engaged in inter-state business, that the Government should have the control of the railways es they controlled the National Banks. The main charge made against them at the meeting on the 19th ist, was that they had violated the constitution of the League in refusing to initiate and carry on a public agita: tion upon the various matters named in the resolution of censure, and in declaring that the work of the League should be mainly educational

The constitution is now embodied in para graphs (4) to (d) of Article 3 of the Mamo- randum of Associati in of the League, which is now an incorporated body. They run as follows:-

(a) To secure as the primary object of the national policy "The Command of the Sea."

· (8) To spread information, showing the vital importance to the British Empire of the maintenance of naval supremacy, upon which depends its trade, empire, and

*national existence.

Two matches in the above competition were

·decided yesterday afternoon, between teams representing the Royal Engineers and Middle sex Regiment.

This game was a very one-sided one, and the Engineers had little difficulty in scoring six goals in the first spell, and four in the

second, to their opponents' nil. This result was no doubt due to the Middlesex not mark ing their men. In the game, every man in the R.E. team scored.

The teams were -R. "A"Staff Sergt Walsh; Sappers Carr, Vaughan, Morrlab, Goodyear, Barton and Cp. Grandy.
