the broad muscle which draws the corners of the mouth backward, causing "perpendicular.
wrinkles in the cheeks.". Have you got the muscle of hospitality? I intend to look out for it. Those who wish to borrow money ought to mark it down. It is a useful wrinklo.

ed by the loose skip under the chin. Old servants and 'rotainers who have served a master for years bave this loose skin under the chip. It is caused by a contraction of the muscles of the throat, because in humility, the head draps and hangs forward, The sign of hope and enthusiasm is four wavy lines across the forehead. Two perpendicular lines be.
tween the eyes show a love of justice. They are caused by a contraction of the muscles, when a person wants to look on both sides òf a question and judge fairly. More than two means conscientiousness, One perpendicular fine between the eyes indicates strictness over small money matters such as wanting to return a borrowed stamp. Finally, the more bone you have the better. You may have an enormous brain, but unless you have high and wall-developed facial banes your head will be like a balloon without ballast. This explains the triumph of bony Scotland. The race is not to the swift, not the battle to the strong. It is to the raw-honed. Young men, be bony. James Douglas in Morning Leader.
WOMAN IN EAST AND WEST,
The
ago: et" writes in the Refere:- Women rarely know what they want. lady at Westminster, who asked for a vote and took a policeman's whiskers is a case in point. There is something to be said for the con- tention of the female' suffragist that the one
room laichkey ledger has a vote, while women
paying rent, rates and taxes have none. But the difficulties of the question are far greater than the female franchise faries seem 10 ima: gine. To give husband and wife each a vote would lead to the most undesirable complica. tions. If the vote were given only to single women and widows marriage would disfrauch ise. The married woman would be placed in an inferior political position to the unmarried woman, and than that nothing could be more mischievous.
What is happening now is the outcome of the false position in which woman has been placed by Western civilisation. In the Eastern civilisation she has kept her place as the light and glory of the home, the bearer of children, the soother of pain, the gentle counsellor and companion of her lord. In the West, desenting her home, ibe flaunts abroad, and screams for equal rights with man in all the departments of life: she regards the weakpers of womanhood as degrading and the duties of womanhood as slavery. Woman to-day is master in the Westem world, and Westera civilisation is suffering severely in consequence.
•
In Eastern civilisation woman has kept in the position for which she is physically fitted. Therefore is Eastern civilisation gradually regaining its ascendancy, and growing vigor ously as Western civilisation decays. A civilisation hysterically swayed by women and boys must in the long run go down before n civilisation ordered, and maintained by strong and resolute men.
