MARINE COURT, SA
COXSWAIN'S CERTIFICATE, SUSPENDED. ¿ At the Marine Court this morning, before Lieut. C. W. Beckwith, R.N., Harbour master
and Marine Magistrate, an inquiry, was held into the circumstances of a charge brought by Mr F. F. Bovet against Fung Fat, manier of the licensed stean launch Les Fat, for failing to observe the rule of the road in the waters of
the harbour on the 9th inst.
Air. Bovet, sword, said he left Murray Pier in his launch Gratchin on the gih fart., and at about 1.5 p.m. when about off the Naval Tor. pado Depot one of the Chinese Yaumati férry launches 'came across his bow at · full'speed. It was only when a collision seemed inevitable that our launch slowed down and ported her halm. The Yaumati lanach went straight across, and proceeded to Yaumati., This has happened so often before that I made it my business to find out und report it. I found the launch was called the Lia Fat.
WL. Carter gave corroboralíve evidence. His Worship said; I find you, Fung Fat, guilty of grass carelessness in the execution of your duty as coxswain in charge of the Lre Far, in that you did wilfully disregard the rate of the road on the 9th February, and cross the bows of the steam, launch Gretchen, thereby causing grave risk of injury to life and property 1 find you unfit to hold the certificate of master, and suspend your certificate for three months. At the expiration of that term you will pass another examination, if you wish to regain you certificate,
