THE WORRIED WOMEN They say mon must work and cop but alas, in this tow busy world often have to work and weep at the same time. Their holidays are too few and their work heavy and monotonous, It makes them nervous and irritable. The depressed and worried woman loses her appetite and grows thin and feeble. Once in a while she has spoils. of palpitation and has to lie up for a day or two. If some disease like influenza or malarial fever happens to prevail she is almost certain to bave an attack of it, and that often paves the way for.

The following telegram gives the fuliesi de. tails that have beta received up to date:
Tacloban, January 14-The governor being absent on the west coast, I have the honour to report the following facts relative to a severe typhoon which passed over this province, on Thursday, the Ioth instant. Up to the hour of writing this, 9.00 p.m., I have been unable to communicate with you by telegraph and it has also been impossible to communicate with the inoɖhern, western and southern coast on ac count of the interruption in the telegraph service.
At this place the typhoon reached its greatest intensity at about 2.30 p.m. Many small nipa houses were destroyed, zinc roofs were torn off in many instances and banana and hemp plants uprooted generally.
At Camp Humpus one set of soldiers' quar. ters was blown flat to the ground and all struc tures there of nipa and, bamboo considerably damaged. The officers' quarter being coa- tracted of more substantial materials were apparently uninjured.
Part of the building used by the constabulary as quarter was unroofed and sides blown in and some stores were damaged,
The provincial stables were unroofed and a scow and small row boat belonging to the pro vince were blown out lato the bay and cannot tre located. Full reports are lacking as to the "condition of the roads and bridges out of Tacloban, but it is very probable that consider
able damage was done to both by high water.
The Tabacalera steamer Flocos was torn from Its moorings in the bay and grounded on the opposite shore of Samar. The military Jaunch Mobile arrived from the south as the aform was at its height and was run aground in the bay. At this writ ing the Mobile is again at her dock but the locar is still aground. No casualities at [133sea have as yet been reported here.

Vessels coming from the north report the shores of Carigara bay to be-strewn with wreck- age of all descriptions. It is very probable that same lives were lost there. The island of Hiliran is supposed to have been directly in the path of the storm and to bave suffered severely. All towns to the south accessible by tele. phone report alpa houses blown down and all growing plants especially hemp and bananas damaged to a considerable extent. The storm however seems to bave been less destructive as the distance south from this place incroaBOS, the principal lossen there being due to high water,
