The President-That fact creates a difficulty" for the plaintiffs' ran some risk in salving the ship by reason of the presence of the cargo. Is the Admiralty in a position to leave the whole matter to the Court?

Mr. Wills-No, that cannot be done, but the practice is for the Admiralty to refer such questions as this to an arbitrator, while reserv. ing all their right; such an agreement will be entered into in this case.

The President, in giving judgment, after stating the facts, said that it was obvious that if the Court were dealing with the whole property salved a very largo sum would have to be given, as there was little doubt that but for the services the Simia and her cargo, would have been totally lost. Salvage, however, could only be awarded against the ship and her freight, the value of which was £12,582. Str. Lightning from Calcutta-Strong NE.Sir Wm.
