The Japanese sealing vessel, Tayei-mars which was reported to have been caught in the (act of poaching off the Aleutian Islands, ar- rived at Shimosato, is Wakayama Prefecture, on the 6th instant. The vessel belongs to the royci Fishing Company, of Shimusato-mura, igashi Muro district, Wakayama Prefecture, and immediately on arrival of the vessel the Shingu police made investigations into the

On reaching the shore of St. Matthew Island they were fired "pon, and one of the men from the sealing V:ssel was killed, while another was severely woonded. The others, with the exception of ose who managed to escape and convey the news in the Toyei-maru, were captured. The Tayel-maru bad on board 32 men in all, and 19 returned to Shimosato. It is maintained that the men of the sealing vessel perpetrated no wrong, neither did they offer any resistance when attacked.-Japan Chronicle,

1. Whether the administration of the Sani- tary and Building Regulations enacted by the Public Health and Buildings' Ordin. aace, 1933, as now carried out is satisfac- tory, and, if not, what improvements can be made.

2. Whether any irregularity or corruption exists or has existed among the officials charged with the administration of the aforesaid Regulation.
