Just as the Colony was beginning to consider itself immuna from typheons, for at least some time to come, after its uppalling experiences of Tuesday last, the full tale of terrible disaster in connection with which has not yet been told, and business was being resumed after the in- terruption caused by that storm, trams once

The Harbour Department launch Stanley returned from her fest resese trip last night, with a party of twelve castaways, from about the islands, who were victims of the typhoon of Tuesday last. The Stanley, under coumend of Captain Casey, of the Harbour Department, left Hongkong at 5 pm, on Tuesday, the even ing of the typhoon, for a tour of rescue, and cruised round the Laminas, anchoring for the night off Stanley, no living beings having been sech up to that point, and all appearing quiet, wind and sea subsided. A VILLAGE FIGHT.
A bloody combat has been fought between the natives of Mak You village and those of Cheung Yin village in the Naim Boi District. In the affray some of the former were killed and many of their houses were destroyed ton. On the evening of the 16th inst., at 6.p.m., several American soldiers are alleged to have pushed a number of Chinese workmen into the river. Luckily all of them could swim well and were picked up by the neighbouring simpans none the worse for their inmersion. The Americans were arrested by the Shameen Guards and were conducted to the Munici pal Police Station. The compradores of all foreign firms will call a meeting at an early date to consider the best steps to take with re- gard to the above affair.
