A Malayan bull-6,10, in contrast to a Spanish bull-fight, is a comparatively time affair, says a special caress ondent of the Singapore Free

l'ress

There is little of a show, or pageant about it; no huge enclosed ring, with its tiers and tiers of seats filled with fashionable Spanish beauties in graceful mantillas waving fans; no poor, blind-fated multi-coleurt horses to be fertured, no picadors, no lat planting banderilleros, and co espadas in risk their lives in sucalled spoit, in Malaya the bulls and buffaloes only follow their own nattial instincts, and fight with their own kind, without being goaded onto the combat-by-hav~~ ing dar's plungert into them, and horses not being used, there are one of the brutal and disgusting nights on often witnessed in a Spanish bull-ring. It is, in fact, bull-fighting hu naturel, stripped of all artificial cruelbes, and if less exciting, is infinitely more sporting, 'though to Spaniards, all elements of personal danger being omitted, it would doubtless seem a deadly dullaffir.

A spectatorria bull-fight in Pahang writes; Bidden by the Sultan to a ball-fight, I arrived at the appointed plice due to time, two o'clock; but the Sultan did not put in an appearance until four o'clock, the lateness of his arrival being really unly custon, for when. ever any show of this sort is on, the time is invariably given about a couple of hours too early. Just outside the old chief's house, where we assembled, was the ring, a primitive arrange.
