What transpired after this is very vague, but we are informed that the men sprang upon deceased. died from the effects of the assault.
When the Tai Po Police heard of the affair
they hastened to deceased's matshed, which is situated on the top of a hill and about fifteen minutes' walk from the station, with all pos- sible spred, and seeing deceased's condition at tempted to get him back to consciousness by means of artificial respiration, bat failed. That the police who went across to investigate the matter have been on the alert is evident from the fact that a few hours after their arrival at Tai, Po, three of the alleged murderers were arrested on their way to Sheng-shui. They were promptly secured and it is expected will soon be brought before the Coust to answer to the charge against them.
