The Monadnock does not keep powder on bourd on account of the climatic tendencies towards spontaneous combustion on a ship of that type. On Thursday night, as published in the Cadlinews, the Monadnock received a full supply of powder from the Cavite yard by the order of Admiral Reiter. It came in an ammunition lighter, towed by a navy yard tug.

This was a most unusual proceeding and duplicated only in times of great emergencies. The Monadnock is now ready fur wat.
