The British steamer Banca, on her way from. Bombay to Kobe with a cargo of raw cation, was stranded on 7th inst. on Futaoi laland, near Musire. A large hole was made on the water-line at the bow. To lighten her a partion of the cargo was thrown overbeard, and the steamer was refloated, whereupon she cominued her voyage to Kobe where she arrived yesterday.
Cargoes of rice and celton for Japan are still being insured against war risks, but the quotation has risen from 2 per cent. to 5 or 7 per cent. But that it merely a quotation. A shipper will go the round of the insurance offices and get the different quotations. If one office offers to insure the cargo and vessel ai, say, 6 per cent., the shipper will say, "Oh, but 1 have been offered's per cent. by so-and-so," and if there is a young man in charge of the office, with little experience of the way things are From information received in Saigon, Ad-done here, he may say➡" Well, I'll let you have mital Rozdulestvensky displays an unmitigat5 per cent, in the hope of getting the business.
