Bhame was sacked more than once, and the insecurity of the roads stopped camvan traffic. Of late years this has revived and the system of allowing goods to be carried in bond from Rangoon to Bhamo has worked very successfully. "When the experiments had ended it was necessary to classify the results, and this was the difficult part of the work, Mile. Borst noted false answers; correct answers, certain and uncertain; correct or wrong answers given under oath, etc. By means of these figures data were obtained on the following points: the extent of the evidence, its faithfulness, the assurances of the witness, the influence of the nath, fidelity to the oath, etc. We shall indicate here only the author's chief conclusions: -Entirely-faithful evidence is the exception; every witness supplies from his imagination the omissions of his memory. About ten per cent. of the statements in a spontaneous deposition incorrect. Suggested depositions are longer than spontaneous ones, but less faithful, Evidence improves by practice. Evidence is mere complete and mere faithful when given by women than by men. Finally, about one- twelfth of the statements in a deposition under oath are incorrect.
