NEW MOVE IN KWANGS.
We gather from a native despatch that, owing to the difficulty of restoring pence in Kwangsi by the beginning of February next, the Viceroy of the Two Kwang does not expect to return to Canton to pass the Chin- ese New Year season. At one time it was
imagined that his arrival in the Provincial capital of Kwangthing, where he is badly needed, was a matter of a few weeks the re- ports from across the border being so reas suring that the advent of peace and plenty for unhappy Kwangsi seemed already shin- ning above the horizon. This, however, proved false and Tsen chuen such will have a long stay in Kweilin if no change is brought about in the situation of affairs, For years past the Government authorities have been saving their face by doing what little they thought to restore order, and now when it is almost too late to introduce new methods of effecting their object the Govern- or of the Province has awakened to the fact that the whole fault has lain with the Imperial troops. In a despatch to the Throne he avers that the failure to suppress the rising is on account of difference of the dialects, ignor, CUN- | ance' of geographical position and inadapta- TOMERS TO KEEP A BOTTLE BYbility of climatic conditions. his work a whimsical originality calculated to make a misanthrope smile. The cake walk of Miss Jennie Harmston-Love was a very dainty piece of artless child assurance, whilst the songs and dances of Florrie and Violet merited the appreciation expressed. The comic element, so indispensáble to a successful circus, was in many capable hands. The French drolls and acrobats, the Bugay Brothers, have not been seen here before, and it is not too much to say that they are a decided acquisition to the gene- ral strength. Their burlesque Chinese acro- batics was nothing short of side-splitting. The whole performance was of the very best, and we have no hesitation in predicting a lengthy and successful season. There will be mainces on Wednesday and Saturday next. We are asked to state that there is no danger of not being able to return with comfort, the Tram Company running any number of trams to the city at the close of the performance.
We might mention that the tent was bril, liantly lighted with transcendent kerasine white light, and for which Messrs, Kruse and lamps, which give an exceedingly briliant Company, Queen's Road, are the sole agents.
