ZONE TIME.

In pursuance of the correspondence, that passed between the Governments of Hongkong and of this Colony, Macao will adopt zone time as it agreed to do. The effect will be that clocks here will be advanced 25 minutes and 50 seconds to correspond with the 120° E. Long

of Hongkong. The only practical effect in business will be the change which must be made in the hours of departure bence of the

·Hongkong and Canton steamers. It will be convenient if, as regards, the fleungshan's de- parture every morning, an alteration in the hour be made to correspond with the present 8 a.m. time of leaving; that is to say, the am. from the 30th inst. The necessity and convenience of the alteration will be apparent when it is mentioned that the large number of Chinese from the intering, who form far the larger bulk of patrons in the passenger traffic from this port, will take some time to realize or understand the adoption of zone time. They will be leaving their districts and villages to arrive for departure from the wharf by 8 a.m. (present time); so that until they gradually appreciate the change it would be to the in- terest of the Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steamboat Co. to consider the convenience of the pissangers.
