POLLARD'S LILLIPUTIANS.
If nightly packed houses, vociferous applause, and trebly repeated encores speak at all, they speak to the unqualified success achieved, and attraction afforded, by the little actors and actresses composing the Pollard's Lilliputian troupe. Last night was just another example of the rule, for when the curtain rose on the second performance of "The Grisha" there was not an empty seat in the auditorium of the
Theatre Royal, and latecomers had to be, and apparently were, content with standing-toora only. And well-repaid were those who were present, for the charm of this i tyllic piece was well developed by there most clever little peo ple, and from beginning to end the play went with a verve and swing that was remarkable with so juvenile a troupe. For those amongst the audience who bad resided in Japan it must bave been like a sudden transformation to that delightful country, for it was just a page out of the history of every day iife in the tea-houses of the land of the Chrysanthemum, Mollie Seymour, as ponmyed by Hitle Miss Daphne Pollard, was a delightfully correct sample of a vivacious, jealous, little British maiden.
The papers of the Victoris were cheerfully shown, and when the examination was over, all doubl as to her business was dispelled. She was bound from Kobe to Newchwang with a general cargo. That was different, and she was allowed to proceed.-Chefoo Daily News,

in Chefoo.
Considerable time was spent at Newchwang in negotiations incident to the seizure between the Japanese and foreign consuls, with the result that, according to reports, brought down by regular steamers plying between Chefeo and Newchwang, much of the live stock has died, being without water and necessary rest. The cattle were at one time ualoaded, but were almost immediately returned to the ship.

The two men expected to reach their goal in a small sampan rigged out with a sail. They took along a supply of water and a small stock of provisions. May Fraser and Daphne Pollard, while Juliette Diament, as portrayed:by little Merie Pollard, was an extremely attractive little personage. In fact, the whole company went through the piece as if it was everyday village pastime they were going through, and if a fault could be found with the performance it was in the somewhat too rapid deliveries of the dialogues
which had a tendency to run the words into each other in such a manner, at times, as to leave the audience somewhat mystified as to
what had been said, and thus many a good point was lost. But we are no carping critics, and believe time will put this right.
