A NEW CODE.
We have received from the Hongkong Observatory a new codo. of meteorologic signals which comes into force at Hongkong on New Year's Day. They are the same as | those at present in use at Shanghai, and will be hoisted on the mast beside the time-ball a Kowloon Point for the information of masters of vessels leaving the port. They do not neces sarily imply that bad weather is expected. The signals are as follows:-
A cone point upwards indicates a typhoon to the North of the Colony,

at the food of the mast, which is fired whenever
a strong gale of wind is expected to blow here,
