A report of the Acting Medical Cheer of Health on the epideme of plague during the first seven months of 1903 has been printed in the Government Gazette. From
we learn that, during the period under review, the total number of cases re ported was 1,363, and the number of known deaths 1,306, which gives a mortality rate for the epidemic of 88.4 per cent-the smallest since the outbreak of plague in 1894.
