We have received from the· Hongkong Observatory a now cade of meteorological signals which comes into force at Hongkong on New Year's Day. They are the same au those at present in use at Shanghal, and will
be hoisted on the mast beside the time-ball u. Kowloon Foint for the information of masters of vessels leaving the port. They do not neces- sarily imply that bad weather is expected. The signals are as follow
A cone point upwards indicates a typhoon to the North of the Colony.
A cone point, upwards and drum below in- dicates a typhoon to the North East of the Colony.
