During the eight months there was a very considerable increase in the total revenue; the figure being: Rs. 76,00,091 as against Rs. 61,73,548' in the corresponding period of the previous year. This was due to larger exports to China and also to increased imports for home consumption consequent on the disappearance of famine.

The forthcoming marriage between the only son of Mr. E. R. Belilios, C. Mr. Belilios, on the other hand, was for close upon forty years a merchant in Hong. kong; and as to his political faith, says a home paper, it is best explained, perhaps, by the fact that for many years past he has been the donor of the magnificent primrose emblem which, with its patriotic inscription, is always so fami- liar a feature at the foot of the Beaconsfield statue in Parliament-gardens. as each-anniver sary of that statesman's death comes round.
