People are looking forward with anxious expectancy to the fate of this official who is the next most impor- tant man to be deprived of his office after the Nam Hoi magistrate. A rumour has been put in circulation that the man is dead, whether at his own hands or through natural causes the report does not say. How far this may be true or in what light the Viceroy will take it,
