BRITISH AND JAPANESE WARNING TO CHINA.

Both the British and Japanese representatives in Peking sent in formal warnings to the Chi- nese Government on the 24th ulta. upon the instructions of their respective Governments to the following effect:

1. The delay of the Russian evacuation in Manchuria has caused a disturbance of the

peace in the Far East and is inflicting damage, upon the interests enjoyed by Great Britain and Japan. If the evacuation be delayed like this bath Great Britain and Japan must take steps to protect the interests of their respec tive countries in China,

2.-China must make inquiries to Russia as to the date when Russia will carry out the second stage of the evacuation and bind Russia solemnly and effectually to a fixed date.

3-China.concludes any agreement with Russia in cons deration of the evacuation, against the interests of Great Britain and Japan, both these powers will refuse to re- cognize any such agreement, in whatever form or shape presented, "

4-If China enters in o any agreement wi h Russia regarding the administrative system- after the evacuation has been effected or if she exchanges any official despatches of im- portance with Russia, the Chinese Government shall inform both Great Britain and Japan and shall get their consent for so doing beforehand.
