The Navy.
LONDON, March-18th. The House of Commons has voted by a5a against 27, a credit of £6,312,800 for the pay of an effective Navy.
The Navy estimates were almost unoppos: ed, both sides of the House recognising the necessity for the heavy expenditure. Sir Robert Reid deprecated any attempt to coerce the Colonies into further. contribu- tions to Imperial defence. Mr. Forster said that naval expenditure was a question of life and death to Great Britain; for Continental powers it was a matter of indulgence and we could not pursue the matter of disarmament if others were not ready to treat,'

The New Dry Dock for Kanila Bay.
NEW YORK, March 14th.. The floating drydock ordered by the Navy Derailment some time ago for use in Manila Pay is now about completed and will be sent out at an early date. The 1-nilding of this drydock was done by the Newport New Shipb ilding Company and the deck is one of the finest ever built. It is large enough to accommodate the largest ships of the Navy.
When the drydock is placed in tow of some
vessel of the Navy it will constitute the largest effort of the kind ever undertaken. This dock is considerably larger than the one sent from the same yards 10 Algeria and taking it across two oceans will be a considerable undertaking The dock will be sent out by way of the Suez
