ANOTHER MONSTER SHIP.
On the 27th ulto at 12.40 am, the vessel struck the rocks southward of Cape Egmont, New Zealand. In a short time the captain manneed to get her off, and proceeded on his journey, but the water gained in No. 1 hold till the 28th, when the ballast tanks were full of water, and the steamer was going down by the head. On that evening she became unmana geable, gradually sinking, until, about 9 p.ni., ske was going down fast. All hands were then or dered to the boats, and had barely time to get clear befo e the Ventnor sunk. Two boats, con. taining the chief officer, Mr."Cameron, and the second and third engineers, with 14 of the crew, lande lat Omapere Bench at daylight on the 29th. The steamer Energy rescued the Ventnor's third boat, containing to men, six being Europeans and four Chinese. The boat was half-full of water, and the men very exhausted. The fourth boat capsized when leav ing the steamer. Captain ". G. Ferry the third mate (Mr. Ure), and seven of the crew, were in this boat, an.I were all drowned.
