WEEKLY SHARE REPORT.

HONGKONG, Friday 3rd October, 1902, Although business has not increased to a very large extent, some gleams of brightness are beginning to show above the horizon, and the tone of our market is decidedly healthier now than it was the case last week. During the interval inquiries have been pretty generalı and consequently several stocks have appre ciated in values,-notably Unions and Hong- kong Fires both of which show a gain of 20 points on last quotations.

William Powell, Limited, has advertised its First Ordinary Yearly Meeting for the 13th October. The transfer books will be closed from the 6th to 13th instant, both days inclusive.

Banks. Hongkong and Shanghai Bauks have ruled firm, and have improved to $600, at which price shares are in demandl In London, the stock is quated at 63 sterling. Nationals are without change.

Marine Insurances. Under the influence o a strong demand, Unions continue to tend up wards, and 5485 have been paid for shares, the market closing with further buyers at this figure. China Traders have also hardened resulting in business at $59. Canton have advanced to $185, and are inquired for at the rate. The Final Accounts for 1901 show a

credit balance of $270,056.99, out of which it is proposed to pay a dividend of $14 per share,

A hard game was played during which Cooke, a new man, proved himself likely to be very useful in

the coming season. Craik played well, Bevan was an excellent goal, and Hance displayed an abundance of energy. The only goal scored was by Arthur, who made a straight kick, but the goal keeper, how. ever, drove the ball back, and it rebounded off Arthur's body and landed home.

The result is as follows:-Kew's team beat Bennett's by 1-0.
