DISEASE AN NAGASAKI GAOLA outbreak of disease has occurred in Nagasaki Cael, says the local journal. No fewer than 80 of the prisoners confined there have been attacked by a disease, which, the medical authorities are positive in asserting, is not cholera. They are being cared for in the prison hospital.
A LONG JUMP-A Chinaman went to No. 252 Queen's Road Central yesterday with the intention of committing a felony. A police constable was set to watch his movements, and as soon as he knew that he was being. detected he jumped from the verandah of the first floor into the street. He was picked up and con- veyed to the Civil Hospital.

RAILWAY WORK IN KOREA --According to a Seoul telegram to the Osaka, Arohi the Korean North Western Railway Company dis- charged about 200 labourers a few days ago, and has now voluntarily suspended work on the construction of the railway between Seoul and Wije, owing to scarcity of funds. There is every' reason to believe, the despatch adds, that the work will not be resumed for some tinic.

Aboatswain, named John Owen, of the sailing vessel Dynomene at present lying at Kowloon Dock, was yesterday removed to the Civil Hospital. It appears that some ten days ago he was sent to prison for a week for disobedience. When he came out of the jail, he was conveyed on board of his vessel. Yesterday he took up a razor and cut his throat which necessitated his removal to the Hospital.

A QUESTION OF SALVAGE..
The following salvage case, between, the Owners, Master and Crew of the steamship Wong Kei (plaintiffs) and the Owners of the Steamship Clara (defendants) was head at the Supreme Court this morning.
Mr. E H. Sharp, instructed by Mr. G. C.C. Master, appeared for the plaintiffs and Mr. M. W. Slade, instructed by Mr. J. Hastings, for the defendants.

A big landslip occurred this morning at Kowloon. Some of the employees of the Hong:** kong and Whampoa Lock Company, working in the vicinity of the Hunghom drydock, noticed severni cracks in the high ground at the back of the new forge building. They at once gave warning and those in the neighbourhood had just time to clear when a mass of earth and rock crashed down and broke in the end of the new building carrying away, a portion of the roef and knocking over the large steam hainmer. Fortunately, owing to the timely warning, no
one was injured.-
