CHINA RELIEFS:-In connection with the China reliefs it has been decided not to em- bark all troops from Calcutta in the Jelunga and Uganda. The British India Company have been taken up at Bombay, whence also the R.1.M.S. Clive is to sail with a regiment. The transports taken up at Calcutta are the British India steamer Pentakota and Asiatic Steam Navigation Company's Nurani, ·All these vessels have been employed on trooping service before and are admirably suited thereto. The XXII Bombays will remain here till the end of August instead of leaving on the 16th June as previously notified. SPECULATION IN NAVAL CIRCLES:- There has been considerable speculation in Naval circles as to the destination of the Good. Hope, first-class cruiser, 14,100 tons, which was built on the order of Cape Colony for the British Navy. A short time since it was reported that she would be sent from Portsmouth to the Mediterranean as flagship of Rear-Admiral Sir Baldwin Walker, tlie recently-appointed third. flag officer for that station. It is now believed H. E. Morriss however, that Sir Baldwin Walker, on proceed. R. Edwards ing to take up his Mediterranean command,

LONDON, May 9th.
A LITTLE PARLIAMENTARY FLUTTER. was caused this week, by the explanation ten. dered by Lord Charles Beresford respecting Inst veak. Mr. Amold his unfortunate letter last year.
