The foundation stone of the new school was laid by the Governor, Sir HENRY A. BLAKE, G.C.M.G., on the zoth July, 190c, and to-day a very pretty little building, planned by Messis. PALMER and TURNER, stands completed. So far, we are informed, bave very little doubt but that the number some fifty pupils have been enrolled, and we of scholars will steadily grow as Kowloon parents come to appreciate the fact that at the new school their children, will be free from many of the surroundings to which objections are raised with regard to the various schools on this side of the water. Kowloon is extending very rapidly and is be- coming a popular place of residence, and the School will undoubtedly make it more so.
The Institution is under the direction of Mr. B. JAMES, B.A. of Oxford, and is, we learn, to be conducted as far as possible on the lines of an English public school. It contains ample accommodation for the pre- sent needs of Kowloon, and it is unlikely that its resources in this respect will be strained for some time to come. We under stand that the staff is to be increased as needfut, one master being maintained for every twenty-five scholars, and this should ensure every attention being paid to each individual pupil.
