ELSPORTS

In the Happy Valley yesterday amid large concourse of spectators, mostly military, the R. A. Sports were held and the various events very well contested. The weather was all that could be desired. The band of the Royal Walch Fusiliers dispensed sweet music and materially enlivened the proceedings. The children bad their share of enjoyment con- tributed by the antics of clowns and Sally. H. E Major-General Gascoigne honoured the the sports with his presence and showed great interest in the pastimes by remaining til the last item of the programme was carried through. A very enjoyable day was spent and great. credit is due to Captain Glapham, RGA, for the success of the meeting. At the conclusion of the sports, the prizes were distributed to the winners by Mrs. James, for, whom and also for Major-General Gascoigne three cheers and the customary "tiger" were heartily given, Below we append the results —---- ́ ́(—HALF-MILE, FLAT RACE.
