MUSIC FOR THE PUBLIC.
As a test the car was sent, along for a short -distance at the rate of sixteen miles an hour and stopped, without the slightest jerk, in seven feet. When travelling slowly it can be pulled up in a foot in case there happened to be some sudden obstruction appear in frost. No make of car would be any use in Hongkong if it were not,
sure hill climber. To thoroughly test the capability of the machine it was put at the hilly road leading from Queen's Road to Bowen Road' and, with three people riding, surmounted the 20% little effort grade with, apparently, as
as if travelling on the level. Being on the free wheel pattern it can be stopped as easily while running down a steep hill as when zoing up.
•
"The machinery develops 4 h.p. and can be driven by gasolene, benzine, alcohol or spirits of wine, and all the weight is so placed that, the centre of gravity being low, no danger of toppling over while turning a corner is possible. Many think that the noise, vibration and smell render a journey more of an infliction than a pleasure. But we can assure them such is not the case. While riding no noise is heard and the perfect springs and pneumatic tyres make the roughest roads good travelling.
The present car has been sold to one of our most prominent Hongkong residents, and, orders for others can be booked through Messrs. Levy Hermanos, of Queen's Road.JM. Picard, from Paris, an expert motorist and a member of the Touring Club, has been for the las: fortnight giving lessons in driving, and the armagements are simple that several gentlemen are quite com- pelent to go about among the thickest traffic afready. We predict that a number of these cars will soon be running about Hongkong, and nothing could be more pleasant than taking the evening air after a hot summer day in one of these luxurious automobiles.

AMATEUR SPORTS, TAIKOO.
The next morning, further evidence for the defence was taken. After Mr. Cuscaden, In. spector General of Police, had given evidence, the foreman of the jury, Mr. Builen, intimated to His Lordship, on behalf of the other jurors and himself, that they had formed, an 'opinion of the case.
Mr. Fort thereupon closed the case for the dafence and the "Attorney General intimated that he proposed to do nothing further, since if the jurymen had made up their minds, he did not suppose anything would make them change their opinion.
His Lordship the Chief Justice then ad- dressed the jury, remarking that they had heard
the whole of the evidence for the prosecution and they were aware of the nature of the charges, he did not therefore think it was netecessary for him to sum up.
A verdict of not guilty, on all counts, was then given in the case of each prisoner.
His Lordship questioned the Attorney General as to the further charges be had against the
