A Chinese tangkang with a carge consisting of nine koyans of sago anchored off St. John's Island, the other night There was a crew of three Chinamen on board, and two slept while the third kent watchi. At 3-30 in the morning a large steamer, name unknown, ran into the tongkang and sank it. The tongkang had a light burning at the time It is alleged that the steamer went on its way with- out stopping at all or rendering any as- sistance whatever to the unfortunate: China men who were thrown into the water, Two of the men were picked up by some Malay Eshermen in the early hours of the morning floating on some of the wreckage of the tong ang One of the men, who was seen hanging on to some planks, has not been found and it is expected he was drowned.
