It is announced that the Commander-in- Chief pending the issue of a revised cavalry sword exercise, has decided that the following instructions he observed by all mounted branches of the Service armed with the sword or lance" The sword and lance exercise will not he performed at reviews or any other parades as a parade practice. These exercises are not intended for display, hut to render the soldier expert in the uso and handling of his weapons. Trained soldiers should only practise sword and lance exercise mounted, and time. should not be wasted in learning exact timing.. Correct formation of the cuts, guards, and points is all that is necessary. Pursuing prac tice ia abolished. Teo much time should not be devoted to sword and lance exercise in view of the enhanced value of the firearm..
