THE WAR OFFICE is about to have, for the first time, & Volunteer officer serving upon the Headquarter Staff. This change is being effected very largely as the result of Mr. Brodrick's determination to have, as far as possible, each department represented by officers who are familiar with all the details likely to pass through their hands. It is some time since the matter was first considered, but strong opposition was brought to bear, and for some reason it was temporarily passed over. Now, however, the Secretary for War has nally approved of one or more officers being requested to assist in the department under the supervision of Major-General Turner, Inspector General of the Auxiliary Forces.
