OBITUARY.

It is with the deepest regret that we have to announce the sudden death of Mr. John Joseph Francis, K.C, the leader of the Hongkong Bar and one of the oldest and most respected residents of this Colony. Mr. Francis was originally intended for the Roman Catholic priesthood, and was educated in Dublin with "that object. He was, however, of an adventurous disposition and instead of entering the Church enlisted in the Army, coming out to China in the Royal Artillery during the second China war, for which he received the medal.
