NOTES AND COMMENTS.

THE HOLIDAY SEASON seems to be drawing to a close. The Empress of Japan brought back to the Colony Messrs. D. E. Brown, A. Babington, Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar, Mr. and Mrs. Hagen and three children and Mr. van Nierop. Every mail steamer from the north now brings some few of those lucky folk who are able to find the time and money for a

summer holiday.

BABY INCUBATORS are rapidly coming into favour in the United States. Twelve, each containing an infant, are now on view at the Buffalo Exhibition. It is said that whereas the deathrate among prematurely born infants was formerly 75 per cent. it has now been reduced by the use of the incubator to 15 per cent. We wonder when a baby incubator will be established in Hongkong.
