Terrible has had the plans in band, and a number of his vessels bluejackets have been assisting. The attempt is to tum the drogér over and already somé fect of her side are visible above water. V. 5. to report whether the locality was suitable or not. The following mmutes were appended ¦-- Dr Hartigan:-"It is evident there is no supervision over these outside pork shops and much irregularity seems to ensue. Either these shops should be properly supervised or, closed. What was the original reason for licensing Cost of property p them?"

Dr. Chirk Put up temporary matshed markets on vacant lots of Crown Land and do away with all these shop licenses. Further market accommodation is urgently needed to check the present exhorbitant price of foud,

Dr. Bell --No licenses for selling food (fresh) outside of markets should be granted"

Hon. R. D. Ormsby:–“If all the market stalls are let and there is competition for them when vacant, then there is not sufficient market accoinmodation and outside shops should be licensed. If reasonably near the markets I don't see why they cannot be supervised.”

The Agricultural Department has been en- gaged for sometime in spreading epidemics. It is teaching the farmers the au starting plagues among harmful insects, and if bad bugs have doctors among them those doctors are going to be kept busy hereafter. Ever since the discovery of contagious disease that would decimate the inch bug population, ente mologists have been working industriouslyg along that line, and contagion can now be spread among several varieties of harmful in- sects. A contagious disease similiar to leprosy has been discovered in the grasshopper family, and experiments in this State and elsewhere warrant the belief that it can be made most efficacious in freeing the farms of that pest- Minneapolis Times.

A STORY WITHOUT & MORAL, An amusing case was adjudged in the Hon- Japan Herald. The case was a trial regarding go Police Court on the 3rd instant, says the the ownership of a cat between two disputants- It seems that a young medical student named Takemori Toichiro, living in Nihonlashi, Tokyo, has had a cat in his keeping. The young man gave the name of Maru to his pet. Lately, however, be missed the cat, and as bis persistent efforts failed to discover its where abouts he gave up all hope. On the 3rd'inst,he went out to make the customary round of New Year visits to his friends, when he saw a cat asleep in a barber's shop in Hengo, Tokyo, He identified the cat as his own, and attempted to carry off the pet. The barber protested, and a quarrel chsued.. The matter was brought into the Hongo Police Station for settlement, which was effected in an up-to- date, Solomon-like fashion. Mr. Igarashi, in Benfawers spector-in-charge of the Hongo Police Station, placed the cat on his bench with the two disputants before him, and commenced the equal at first to the solution of this knotty examination, but his forensic genius was un- problem. In a moment, an idea struck him He ordered the two disputants to call out the Bame of the cat. The barber beckoned the cal, using the name of Aka, but the animal remained indifferent. When the young man called out "Maru!" the cal came mechas to his side and rubbed against his hands. There upon the inspector-in-charge gave judgment in favour of the young appellant.
