In Natal.
A despatch from General Buller states that, on the 2nd instint, he summoned the Boers to surrender, saying they might retam to their farms pending the decision of Lord Roberts but surrendering all their guns. Three days armistice was eventually agreed upon to enable the Boer General to consult with the burghers. The armistice expired on Wednesday, when General Butler immediately began to move forward,
Notes and Reports.
The Diamond Fields Horse and a portion of the Kimberley Horse have been disbanderi,
It is believed the War Office do not intend to recall any of the troops until the end of August. The colonial contingents will be despatched home first. They will be followed by the Indian contingent.
It is being urged that it would" be unwise to transfer the latter force from winter service at the Cape to the Indian, garrison in the hot season. Further, the thorough scheme of house to house, visitation and seizure of arms will still provide occupation for all the troops available. The Sultan of Turkey has congratulated the Queen upon the capture of Pretoria,
The transports, Lokeerie Auranio, and Tagus have sailed with ito officers and 3,600 men, and there have been large arrivals of sick and wounded officers.
June 10th.
The message from Lord Roberts dispelling all anxiety was warmly received and is regard. ed as satisfactory, especially with acgard to the battle now in progress in the Transvaal.
