A gentleman who has bad many discussions with old Boers, Balish colonists, soldiers, Transvaal politicians, and people of every sort, on the subject of the war, writes in the Morning Post that when the British troops have invaded the Transvaal, Pretoria has to be dealt with and it is by far the best fortified and supplied town in South Africa Stores and ammunition

MAUSER AND LRE-METFORD. Concerning the Magersfontein engagement the Lancet special correspondent at the base writes: "I am glad to say that the wounds of the officers, with soare few exceptions, have not been very serious, and many of the patients are on the high road to recovery, the wounds being principally flesh ones of the extremities, and in all these cases progress has been uninterrupted. Wounds of bones and joints, on the other hand, are mare or less tedious and frequently require operation, the smashing power of the LerMetford being very apparent in contradistinction to the clean perforated wounds caused by the Mauser. The variety and--may-call-it-the eccentricity of the bullet wound in this war-by this 1 mean the direction taken by the missiles and the marvellous escapes of big vessels and bones-would fill a good-sized volume, requires a war like this to teach us how little

This succesful and highly popular remedy, as employed in the Continental Hospitals by Ricord, Rostan, Jobert, Velpeau, and others, combines all the desiderata to be sought in a medicine of the kind, and surpasses everything hitherto employed.
THERAPION No. 1, in a few days only, removes all discharges from the urinary organs effectually superseding injections, the use of which does irreparable harm by laying the foundation of stricture and other serious dis- eases. In dysentery, piles, irritation of the lower bowel, cough, bronchitis, asthma; and some of the more trying complaints of this kind, it will be found astonishingly efficacious affording prompt relief where other well-tried remedies have been powerless.
THERAPION No. 2, for impurity of the blood, scurvy, pimples, spots, blotches, pains and swellings of the joints--secondary symp toms, disease of the bones, sore throat, and discases for which it has been too much, a fashion to employ mercury, sarsaparilla, &c, to the destruction of the sufferer's teeth and ruin of health. This preparation purifies the whole system through, the blood, and throughly eliminates every poisonous matter from the body.
THERAPION No. 3, fornervous exhaustion, waste of vitality, and all the distressing, con sequences arising from early error, excess residence in hol, unhealthy climates, &c. It posseses surprising power in restoring strength and vigour to the debilitated,
THERAPION may be procured of the prin cipal Chemists and Merchants throughout the world. Price in England z/g and 4/6. "In ordej-
