THE COMING REVOLUTION. TO THE LUTOR OF THE HOMEHONG Tülegrarn." SIR-A great revolution is brewing in China for the overthrow of the usurping Manchus. The seeds of rebellion have been sown broadcast and are already bearing fruit. Favourable responses have been received from the Provinces, and from nearly all the Foreign countries wherein our brethren divelli d'

The year.1900 and the succeeding years will witness a great change...in China, a change which with God's help, we trust will be welcome to the Foreign Powers, and beneficial to the vast and increasing trade of the Orient.

We are human and confess that the beginning. will not be without its troubles and disappent monis. We are a nation of 400,000,000, raw in certain respects, but in judging us, must be rementbered that iron ore can be smelted and then wekled into polished, tempered steel,

Our leaders have been equented and trained abroad, and we have the sympathy and support of numerous influential friends in England, America and Japan.

Stuce the usurpation of the Manchus, the whole nation, led by its blind guides, has sunk deeper and deeper in the quagmire of, corrup tion. To gradily.her whims the ignotant and arrogant Engress Dowager has brought, our ancient Empire to the very verge of ruin, and the deposition of Kuang. Su emphasizes the personal and sinister influence of this wicked

The latter at once got away and song good passing ensued on the right wing Murray however relieved for the soiliers, and Williams, securing the ball, got past all opposition dy a fine run down and sented with a last low shot, which completely bafiled Kew, 5 minutes from the commencement.

On restarting the Club's forwards at once got away into the Fusilier's teritory. Moberly had a good try for goal but his shot, was too high. and the ball sailed over the har.

From the kick out, Pawall captured' the. leather, and handed it over to Boulton, who took his forwards along in pe style 10-

Williams got the ball and centre to Bouken, the latter banged the ball in, but Kew saved brilliantly. Then Pugh had a try, but the Club's custodia was alert and, again saved. The soldiers, however, were nut to be denied, and from a scrimmage in front of goal, Banton pegged another point by sending the ball into the net at close range.

We have been organizing and waiting for the Last two hundred and thirty years.

We gave the young Emperor Kuang Sua chance, believing that great things were in store for our people, but Heaven has told as through the notions of the Empress Dowager that the Manchus are doomed to destruction.

Since the Manchus-are delcemined to keep us enslaved instead of raising us from the wire of close on three centuries of corruption and misrule, we have sworn to uproot then it and branch in obedience to the sacred call of Heaven.

We are alive to the fact tha. China, as re- presented by the present corrupt and ratten Government, is a sore and an obstruction in the path of civilization and progress.

Consequently it will be our duty to remove this sore, and, when the struggle has conturne- ed, we trust Great Britain, The United States and Japan will stand by us, and send a helping hand.

We are certain the great and chivalmus English speaking proples, who are always in- bued with a high sense of honour and justice, will be pleased to lord us their support in our straggle for Liberty, Freedom and Reform.

On resuming plays Noble gave the ball to Danby, but Ponnall stopped the rush and the ball was retthard into the Club's quarters. Looker secured and some good play ensned We also take this opportunity of soliciting in midfield. Yours truly, LIBERTY, FREEDOM AND REFORM. Canton, February 9th, 1900,

On changing ends, the Club seemed to wake up a bit and realize their position. For some minutes the ball was never out of the sollier's quarters, Plenty of good combination was seen amongst the civilian's forwards but their shoot- ing was ineffective and Erans had no difficulty in keeping his charge clear. Lowe rent in h good shot but Murray secured and, being hard pressed, kicked the ball past the post thus gir ing the Club.a corner.

Lowe placed the corner well, and a scrini. mage took place in the math of goal. Murray, however, relieved by heading the hall out and Boulton at once go away. The Fusiliers now had a look in. Williams got the leather and sent in a hard shor, which just skimmed the post. Kew took the goal kick, giving the ball to his brother at all. The latter passed to Noble who again tested Evans's defence in goal. The soldier custodian, however, was alert, and saver. A slight argu mené occurred at this period of the game. The linesman held that Evans, in saving, ran more than the allotted to paces and ought to be penalised. The referee appealed to the lines man and then gave a foul against "G." Coy The decision was not well taken by the onlookers. The military element especially being loud in their disapprobation.

Jasper relieved brilliantly for the Fusiliers, and the latter had hard lines in not scoring, Boulton and Williams both missed splendid chances when the ball only wasted a slight touch to make a goal. The soldiers were now having the best of the play and were pressing when the whistle brough: the game to a close with the

UNNECESSARY CRUELTY. TomE EDITOR OF THE "Hungsdag EreldrAPH," 518. A painful sight was witnessed on Saturday morning in Queen's Road Fast. A Sador clad in the garls of the 1, S. Nave was being marched along the road towards the goal handcuffedtra Chinaman and guarded by two Cliidese police. The unfortunate man appeared to feel his position very keenly and it was painful to watch his efforts to walk ahead of his companion, as far as the handcuffs would allow. One is naturally indignant at such a sight and it may well be asked if it is necessary for the police to expose a white man to such a humiliating position in public. Moreover the man may be innocent of the offence for which he was it custody as it may fairl be assumed he was on his joy from the Wanchai Police Station to take his trini at the Police Coun, In any case it seems a needless act of cruelty, treating a prisoner in that way, and it is in the hoped the Captain Superintendent of Police will give orders that in future no white man in custudy be handcuffed to a Chinaman unless the circumstances render that course so netes. sary that there is no other method of dealing with him available.
