AGAIN...

English troops weeping at the prospect of fighting the Boers, and having to be forced out of the troopships at the Cape, raped together in groups of len, and driven ashne down the gangways by blows of a cud- gel." As an effort al, the lively French im- agination this is extremely entertaining. Yet this little Gallic "allegory" about the British soldier's reluctance to fight-the wish father to the thoughts not even original. It will thickle our German friends to know that quite the same imputation was made about them- selves twenty-nine years ago. The following paragraph is from the Gauloir of July 21, 1870, with regard to the Prussian troops-

Calling out of the lambrechy difficult; con- scripts wech : great fear of the French, ispecí- ally of the Turcos; they are carried off by force in waggons.

And yet, strange to relate, these same "weeping. Prussian conscripts" had something to say to their French critics at Metz, Sedan, and Paris-Singapore Free Prest,
