TO-MORROW afternoon on the Happy Valley, victory is due to Lewis, although Stephens, the Hongkong Football Club, will play the Wilkinson Ludwick and the back, Davis, as Garrison, under Rugby rules. Kick-off at half-well as Captain Castle, contributed largely to the result. On the part of the haval team the past four o'clock, –

NOTES' ON THE WAR.
TELLGRAMS OF 19TH AND 20Tit. By Observer.
It is with grant satisherion that we learn the General Hildyard has been beforehand with the Boers at Litenutt. It means that there is, at least, one bridge less to repair, to say nothing of the moral effect on the Boers of their failure to rush the place.
It is doubtful whether the Boers will venture to attack Estcourt, but of course they may, bearing in mind that the place is described as unsuitable for defence. But in all probability it is capable of being made so temporarily, to allow of the concentration of the relieving column. In any case we may expect to bear of the enemy disputing our march to Colenso, where we shall have to wait either till the bridge is repaired or, in the event of time being important, until a military bridge has been constructed. By the way, the mysterious explosion reported a few days ago may be accounted for by the destruction of the Togela Bridge at Colenso.
We may expect the passage of the Tugela to be rather a troublesome operation, hindered as we are certain to be, by the Boers on the northern bank. Artillery and machine guns will play an important part on our side, and perhaps a crossing may be effected at some other point, under cover of an engagement at Calenso.

A SUGGESTION. To run "Eurox or Tite "Hosakond Teledramil". SIR,As an occasional visitor to Hongkong and a keen lover of football I am pleased to see that the Hongkong Football, Club has gone to the pains of erecting a commodious "grand stand on its ground for the accommodation of members and their friends. But it strikes me that the present rule as to admission to the same is hardly conducive to its being well filled-that is if experience of matches played within the past few weeks be any criterion. As a case in point 1 may mention that during yesterday's match several naval officers (whose shipmates were playing and in some cases accompanied by ladies, came along and, seeing the placard on the gate announcing that admission was only for members or by member's tickets" and seing a Cerberus-like Celestial at the wicket, withdrew to other parts of the ground and in some, cases shortly withdrow altogether; the result being that the structure was left compa ratively empty.
This being the case, I should think some other and superior arrangement might be made without much trouble. Of course the accomodation is not for the hei pellet, but in cases where games are being played by teams mainly composed of officers surely some simple arrangements might be made for the seating of their friends of either sex...
