A VERY and case of suicide occurred in the China Inland Mission School, Chefoo, an

Wednesday last. On that day Miss William- son, one of the teachers at that institution, was found unconscious in her room. It was at once apparent that she was suffering from the effects' of poison.. Dr. Jouthewaite and another medical inan attached to the Mission were promptly it attendance, but nothing could be done for the unfortunate young lady who suc cumbed shortly afterwards. A number of lozenges marked chlorate of potass were found in her pocket and an analysis of her stomach showed that she had swallowed half a dozen similar tabloids. Whether the case was one of death by anisadventure or suicide is not quite clear, but we were informed on enquiry at the head-quarters of the Mission here that the unfortunate lady had been suffering from some mental depression of lite, but why was not known. Miss Williamson, who was the daughter of a well-known member of the same Missionary body; was a great favourite with her pupils and co-workers in the school. She was about 26 or 27 years of age. Considering the mysterious manner in which apother lady belonging to the same Mission met her death in Shanghai some years ago, through an overdose of a dangerous drug which she obtained from Williamson should be searchingly investigated. a local Chinese dispensary, the death of Mies
