MY P. A. Cox Four beaten ponies entered to try and obtain one prize out of the meeting, and it proved to be a very good race, Montebello being success ful. The winner took the lead, followed by Ten Rase. At the Bridge the lenders were Grasshopper, Montebello and Ten Rose. Grasshopper led Montebello by four lengths at the Rack At the turn to the Village all closed, but on entering the home straight Montebello went to the front of Tea Rase, Tocsin not far behind. Then Tocsin took the lead when fairly into the straight, but Montebello quickly overtook him. Tea Rose, however, challenged Montebello, but the latter won a capital race by three quarters of a length, Tea Rose being only a shon head in front of Grasshopper. There was: trouble in starting, but after a couple of attempts Douglas went away with the lead, Aberdeen and Forest King close up. Yellow Dwarf was. a miserable last. Tyne took the front position going down the back stretch, and then came Douglas, Aberdeen and Rookwood. At the bend the three leaders still kept to the front, but up the straight for the first time. Douglas went up second. At the Bridge the leaders were still the same. Then Forest King passed Rookwood going down the back stretch in the last round but, Douglas was fairly finished at the Rock.
