Captain Hastings this morning and fined $5 each, besides being ordered to pay $10 compensation.

MAJOR G. W. BRAZIER CREACH (R. M. S. Capt. McSwiney (7th Dragoon Guards), and Capt. Purvis (R. E.), have arrived in Shanghaiin conection with the special work for which they been lent by the British Government to the
Peking Syndicate. Major Creagh and Capt. McSwiney have already made names for them- selves by travels in Persia and Khorasan extending over several years. In a few days, when some other gentlemen associated with the Peking Syndicate have reached Shanghai, the party will start for Hankow and thence for the country covered by the immense concessions
