The installation of atcers in the above lodge was carried out on the gth Inst, by the D.G.M. Hoa. C. P. Chater.
'Mr. J. C. Goodchild, manager of the Grill Room did the catering and the 124 guests were supplied with a really good bill of fare, the, vlande belog excellently served and cooked and Mr. Goodchild took full Interest personally in seelog that the "boys" did their work properly. The ball was prettily decorated and the various toasis were bearlily honoured while many conge ware contributed.

FIRE IN HONGKONG,
Bazaar opposite the Sok-on-po market last A fire broke out in a Chiness store st Jardine's night, The alarm was received at 6 15 p.m. at No. 2 Police Station, Praya East, and the fire- engines immediately turned out, the Central re-station being at once communicated with. The steps of the fire was reached about half an hour allerwards and the hose attached to bydraula was brought to bear upon the flamos, Fortunately, being practically at rea-level, there well under control by 7pm.
